It may have been that my set was unusual as well. The first half of the
trip (a lot of hwy miles) did a good job of defining a center wear line,
but once I hit the back roads, I was able to add a lot of wear to the
sides. I, as well, am not a lightweight and was travelling with two full
givis and camping gear strapped to the top. I was running heavier than
normal as I carried some spare parts, full tool set and service manual and
oil. Of course, I had no mechanical problems, but if I had left the stuff
behind, I'm sure I would have been broken down in some rural area, with no
cell service and no one around ..... actually that reminds me of my crash
in the Blue Ridge, but thats a story for another time.
