    I agree, but would emphasise the "usually" - it's possible to
scrape a helmet and damage it cosmetically without damaging it
structurally.  For example, by scraping it along the road rather than
slamming into it.  Arai in the UK will inspect a (n Arai) helmet and
tell you whether or not it's still okay.
