Get a waterproof canoe bag - works really well at keeping the dry stuff dry
and the wet stuff on the outside. It can be tied easily to the bag and you
don't have to worry about rips / tears etc like you do when using plastic.

unfortunately that was also my part of my beer allowance, so it looks like
