Re: Brake Bleeding

I used to use a bleeder like this and it works quite well, but you must make sure the threads on your bleeders are sealed so air does not get sucked past them and into the caliper when releasing the brake lever for the next pump stroke. I used to seal the threads by removing the bleeder and applying a small quantity of grease to the threads. Once the bleeders were reinstalled I never had any air leaks again and as a bonus the bleeders will never seize in place due to corrosion. The grease also will seal bleeders when using a MityVac or similar vacuum bleeding tool eliminating air bubbles getting sucked into the clear tube that cause you to believe the brakes still have air in them. I now use a power bleeder that supplies compressed air to the brake fluid reservoir which eliminates the need to have the
other two guys around to help, although having at least one other person around is nice when you need another cold beer!

Happy bleeding,
Dan

It works on the same principle. Just attach the hose end to the "tit" of the bleeder screw, place the check valve end in a collection jar, crack open the bleeder screw one quarter to a half turn, pump away! When air bubbles are no longer seen in the CLEAR hose while pumping, the bleeder screw is closed on the pump stroke. Works the best with two people....well a third person is even better as the third person is keeping the reservoir topped off. The advantage of this is that you simply move the rig to each brake caliper instead of buying "speedbleeders" for each caliper for every vehicle you own! Add em up!
