Anyone out there had speedo drive problems? My drive unit crapped out
over the weekend, seizing completely. 

Yes, the speedo is electric, but the device on the hub is still a mechanical
analog to digital
converter, rather than a gear device that operates the old style speedo
that's driven through a 
cable. The piece that rotates on the wheel spacer and interfaces with the
wheel froze.
