Re: Apologies to Ross (ST virus?)

I 2nd Eric thoughts - this is a discussion list, and sometimes its just nice to air our frustrations with fellow owners - if Triumph chose to take notice thats great, but it still makes me feel better to know I am not alone :)

Perhaps its the eclipse, who knows, but I dont remember anyone having a melted fairing before I reported it to the list ? After that they seem to have been going down like candles at the Pyromaniacs Ball :( Perhaps there really is an ST virus, and its passed on by e-mail.

So, virus no. #3 -> on idle, or a closed throttle there is now a strange noise coming from the engine head - sort of 'tinkling' sound like 'pinking', but it does not occur under load (so its presumably not 'pinking'). Otherwise the motor runs smoother than ever, and seems fine on power - just using a bit more gas these days, but put that down to baggage and pillion.
Any ideas?

btw, my fuel guage is completely dead and when I went to the dealer for the last service he said it was very frustrating not to have any news or even a date for the replacement units for all his customers - he had already recieved and changed out 10 units before being told by HQ that they wouldn't work either! I think he's hoping not to sell any more ST's this year -just too much hassle :)

Is there a 'bulletin page' on the Triumph Ltd website? I dont remember seeing one, but it would certainly be an easy way of communicating latest info. Just an idea.

Ross et al, Didin't mean to make you the point man for my frustrations, and
hope you continue to monitor and contribute to the list.

Though several defects on my ST have been resolved, I am currently running
with three manufacturing defects (fuel gauge, melted fairing, and unstable
mirrors). On all three of these issues, I have not heard one word from my
dealer or Triumph. All information has been received via this list! I don't
think that should be the case.

I realize that some things such as the melting fairings are recent
developments and may not have been addressed by Triumph yet, but othes such
as the fuel gauge and mirrors are months old problems have obviously been
addressed by Triumph internally.

A letter to customers from Triumph assuring us know that the problems will be
corrected would be nice. The way the mirror issue was presented it sounded
as though Triumph was not addressing current problems on existing bikes.
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and see if they propose a warranted
solution.

Didn't meant to come across so harsh. All I said was failure to warranty the
problem would affect my personal decisions on future Triumphs. Its not like
I propsed a class action lawsuit. LOL :-) I just want Triumph to make
good on the problem.
