I had a similar problem occur on mine a couple of times. Turn the key
and al seems fine, but push the start button and all the lights go out
and stay out. The last time it happened, while investigating the
problem, I discovered that one of the battery cables was loose. After
tightenign it up, the problem went away.

It's worth a look, anyway.
