Sheared Clutch actuating rod and oil coming out of engine casing

Anyone experienced a similar problem?

There I was in heavy London rush-hour traffic, and slowing at traffic
lights I pulled in the clutch. The clutch lever went loose, like the
cable had broken, and the engine stalled as it was still in gear.

I called out breakdown recovery, and we found the actuating rod, the
rotating rod on a spring that the clutch cable will move, had sheared
near the bottom. Also, there was an oil slick coming out of another
place towards the front.

I am having my 6000 mile service this wednesday, so have sent the bike
over to Metropolis in Vauxhall for repairs.

Blew my weekend trip to Somerset, and Cannock later this week...

...now off to look up my tube map...
