Re: Howdy - part II

I myself went from a "Cruiser" to the ST, so I felt kind of funny on it at first. I installed GenMar risers, and now the riding position is about perfect for me, not coming from a sportbike background. At good speed, your wrists will be eased of the pressure from the wind. This bent forward position also allows a full face helmet to be worn with more comfort (I used to ride helmet-less because my head blew all around from riding upright). The risers I recommend because they make the bike a lot more comfortable, at least for me. Another thing to consider is that the riding position on the ST enables the rider to have much more control over the bike, which is slightly compromised with the risers.

The only thing about the bike I am concerned about is the
riding position, I took a testride a couple months ago and liked the bike
but hated the riding position. It was a VERY short ride, and all under
35mph.... I've never ridden sport bikes, always sat straight up for the
most part. Everyone has said it might be a problem but that if so risers
would help, just how effective are they? Should I reconsider this bike, I
haven't signed for the bike or the financing yet so I can still back out
without a problem. I am 6' tall, weigh in at a hefty 270, and am 31 years
old. Pulled my back a couple years ago but no problems since.

Thanks
