Re: Panniers

     Dave,

The ST does indeed look very good with the panniers fitted, especially
in conjunction with the seat cowl. Also the panniers are excellent for
carrying things and more importantly keeping those things dry and
     secure during transit.

However, not everyone wants to carry things all of the time, and the
panniers are bulky for use in congested city traffic, so they get
removed when not in use. I've been driven into twice by drivers
'nudging' the panniers with their bumpers. The second time was a
double decker bus who actually hit me twice because he didn't realise
he'd hit me the first time! (Very scary). That was when I started
removing the panniers when I didn't need them.

All I want to achieve is to have the convenience of the panniers when
I need them and still have my bike looking as good as possible when
the panniers are not in use.

I'm confused. Why do people buy the panniers, take them off, and then whine
about how the bike looks? My black ST looks very cool with the panniers on,
and I use them to carry things in. I thought that was the idea. Dave Collins
