My dealer, Munroe Motors in San Francisco, recommended I use 89 octane.
I have almost 3000 miles on the bike now and have never experienced
pinging or any other problem. And I'm a guy who has always used
high-test in all my previous (three) bikes.

I used 92 octane, the best that is served in California, through the
break-in
period, and since then have been trying 89 octane, with no pings so far.
Is
this OK, or will it be bad for my precious 11.2:1 compression ratio
engine?
