RE: New Subscriber Info



It's not the engine speed that beds in the rings - rather it is the
combustion gas pressure on the rings themselvs. Varying that pressure makes
for better sealing with less chance of a glaze forming on the cylender
walls.

An important point about the recommended RPM limits - remember that new
Triumph engines seem to be a bit 'tight.' That is to say that break-in on
one of these actually seems designed to scrub stuff in. That is why shifting
gets better with time *and* why Triumph has such precise and strict schedule
for break-in. Most other manufactures ship their cars and bikes a bit
looser, so break in is not as critical.

Short version - try to stick to the RPM limits, and avoid steady speeds.
Accelerate to whatever the current limit is briskly and be extra careful not
to lug the motor when taking off.
