Re: add-ons and accessories

Troy and Dennis,

I do hear what you're saying - especially when there is a lack
of trust in the dealer or tyros used to do the less skilled
stuff.
In my case, it's the exact reverse. I trust them to do stuff far
more than myself - as I don't have a garage, a decent place to
work on the bike or even the right tools for anything more than
very basic stuff, living in a suburban London flat!
I'm not looking for an excuse to buy more tools when I have no
place to put them, obviously.

I would certainly expect the quality of whatever they do to be
up to scratch, whether it's paid, free or part of a trade-in
etc.
And so far it certainly has been.
They put my front screen on (the slightly taller one) as well -
forgot that.

When I bought a second-hand Harley in Houston off a friend of a
friend, we had to get various modifications made, and I remember
that you had to pay for additional labour if you wanted them to
fix on so much as a screw or light cover. Then again, I hadn't
bought the bike off them, only the parts, so that was fair
enough maybe.

I've never had a car, so I can't say how that sector treats
people. I know that if you bought a tyre off them, they'd expect
to have to fit it, as most customers wouldn't know how!
As for average relationships, I'm sure they last longer over
here. Before this move, I had my last dealer for 2 years and the
one before that for 10 years. The only reason for me to change
was a) because I changed makes from Japanese to British and b)
because I moved countries.

Be interesting to see what other contributors think

Tim
