 if 18/43 = 1.0  or 100% gearing
 17/43 = 0.944 or 94.4 %
 17/45 = 0.903 or 90.3 %
 16/43 = 0.889 or 88.9 %
 16/45 = 0.849 or 84.9 %

  I would think the bike has the horsepower to pull the 17/45 to redline in
top gear.  For a normal 5000 rpm cruise it should also increase the rpm to
5537 for the same speed or reduce the speed by 10 percent at 5000.
  For me and the type of roads I ride here in central Texas, the stock
gearing is fine.  If I lived on either coast or in the mountains I would
drop the gearing to 17/43 or 16/45 for extra acceleration and to make up for
the higher altitude.  But here we are comfortable with a 100 mph (160kph)
cruise on most roads.
