     I'd have to agree. I took a friends VFR800 on a track day last year 
     and I wouldn't describe it as hard work at all. If memory serves it 
     had Metzlers on it and it positively darted through the twisties. I 
     didn't have to hang off at all (except for the spectators!). It was 
     quite a revelation to me how good the VFR actually was on the track.

Hmm, interesting... I certainly countersteered my old VFR all the time! I 
wonder if you were experiencing tyre issues rather than a bike problem? 
Certainly, my bikes were both fine - although yes, now you mention it, to 
drop it in I used to give the bars on the VFR a solid stab just like a 
boxer's jab, at which point it dropped in perfectly. The apparently wider 
tiller on the ST probably makes it easier...
