Riding School
Just got back from taking the Reg Pridmore CLASS riding School. I went to the
senior (over 40) event he held at Streets of Willow, and I would recommend it
heartily. I took my new (2,000 miles) 1999 Sprint ST, and the bike was fine,
although my confidence was lost near the beginning when the front tire
almost slipped out from under me-it was probably rider error, such as braking
while leaned over, but I blamed it on my stock Bridgestone BT 57's.
It was most instructive to ride around behind Reg (as a pillion passenger)
on a Dunlop D 207-equipped VFR 800. The pace seemed furious to me, with lean
angles well beyond 45 degrees, and the tires, I thought, adhered perfectly.
Afterwards, he said he was riding at about 50-60% of his capability, because
of the passenger, and that the tires, which had been through 5 track schools,
were slipping a bit! Next time, I am going to have some new D207's on!.
Reg's motorcycle sponsor is Honda, who, he said, give him a lot of support.
Too bad it couldn't be Triumph-that would be a natural!
