battery tender/ throw over panniers

Somebody said something about Battery Tenders not boiling the water out
while in storage. This is not true. If you use a battery tender, you
would be wise to check the electrolyte level once every month or two
while in storage. I store 3 batteries (varying 1-4 years old) on 3
different Battery Tenders and have found that they all need water after
4-6 weeks. They are not bone dry but they approach the lower level.
While this rate of evaporation is slower than in the summer months (all
my batteries need water about once a month when I ride them) it is not
something to ignore all winter long. I'll be looking forward to the
sealed unit on the ST.

Someone else asked about the Triumph throw over panniers. My dealer
quoted me $240 USD for the kit (including the protector panels for the
bodywork). They couldn't tell me anything more than what was in the
catalog, which is nothing. Are they waterPROOF? Have self storing rain
covers? What denier? What is the storage volume/capacity?
