oil leak

Speaking of leaks, my '99 ST recently developed an oil drip from the place 
where the gear changer shaft enters the gear box. This happened after my 600 
mile service, when the crankcase was slightly over-filled(a millimeter or two 
above the top of the sight glass) Are the two findings related?
