Re: Leaking Fuel

Hi Carlo,
My fuel leak was caused by a cracked "fuel delivery pipe". This is the lower (I
believe) of the two pipes exiting the tank. The biggest problem was getting the
part. You could actually see fuel dripping with the ignition on (this is the
high pressure side of the system. I still smell fuel however, but can't find the
cause. I have had it back for things twice now (radiator replacement and 6K
service), and complain of the smell of fuel everytime, but so far they haven't
located it. (Actually, they didn't locate the cracked pipe either, I found it
(at least the vicinity of where the fuel was leaking)). I'll have to recheck the
whole thing next time I pull the rear fairing off, which may be in a couple of
weeks. Obviously this isn't a huge problem (knock on wood) and I usually notice
the smell when the fuel tank is full. Anyone else having this experience?

Also, when they replaced the radiator for the FINAL time, they also replaced all
the mounting hardware. So far so good, and I think I have about 1500 miles on
since they fixed it.

This time the problem is leaking fuel. Like some other listers
which I recall, I started smelling gas and found that my mileage
was drastically reducing.
So, I got off the rear faring and found that it was in fact leaking
near where the hoses go into the tank. Upon investigation, I found
that an O-ring in one of those white snap-ons was brocken.
I changed it and thought that the problem was fixed but it wasn't.
Something is still leaking in the same area but I haven't been able
to identify exactly where.
Can those folks that had a similar problem please let me know what
their finding was and how it was fixed?
