Are you pushing them through the right way? This might sound
counter-intuitive, but to get them in and out (especially after
they've been first used), push the flanged end through from the inside
rather than the unflanged end from the outside. Push one side of the
flange lip through, then using a fingernail or medium sized
screwdriver, ease the rest through.
