Robert,

The Sigma locks into the mount. I can't imagine you knocking it out unless 
you did not have it all the way into the locked position. It will still 
work if it is all the way to the lock, but not actually clipped in (tried 
it yesterday). When you put the new one on, slide it forward until it licks 
and you shouldn't loose another one. ;-)
