If there is a plastic cable tie holding a wire bundle against the ignition switch barrel assembly, cut it off because it will chafe right through the wires and cause a short. Check out Eric's ST site, as it tells about it and a couple of other things that should be checked out.

Hello to all ST riders.
I'm picking my new blue ST up on Thursday 9/9/99 - is
this a bad day for Y2K stuff? Similarly to a previous
poster, I went for a test ride and it totally blew me
away. I've ridden ZZ1100's, Bandits and other bikes
but the Triumph's handling and comfort are awesome.
What is this with a cable tie on the ignition or
something? Sorry if I'm asking people to repeat
themselves, but is this something I should ask my
dealer to look at?
