I wouldn't consider the ST to be a high maintenance bike at all. But, it is 
also not a no maintenance bike. Service interval is 600 miles, 6,000 miles 
and then every 6k thereafter. Valve shims at 12,000 miles and then every 
12,000 miles.

There have been some issues on the 99's as it was a first year model, but 
they have either been taken care of under warranty or will be taken care of 
in the future. As Dan pointed out the service rates aren't usually any 
higher than at other shops.

Must not be looking in the right spots ;-) although there are many more 
Honda shops around. Below is a copy of an email from Stump on the Seattle
