Actually, I think lane splitting is illegal in Texas.  Of course even if it
were legal, your typical Houston driver would go ballistic, seeing as how
they will often speed up to close a gap if you signal your intent to change
lanes or wait until the very last possible moment to get onto an exit ramp
during rush-hour traffic, inconveniencing everyone else so they can cut in
front.  I drive a Honda CR-V, and I STILL get ignored by yutzes in
everything ranging from little Civic hatchbacks to Suburbans jam-packed with
kids.

What can you do?  Be more defensive.

	One a somewhat related note, I personally don't lane-split. It's not
that I can't, and it's an awful temptation to resist in heavy backups, but
around Houston it's not commonly accepted by motorists...
