Re: Another Newbie

Hi there,

I just joined the ST ranks a bit over a week ago and have put about two and a half
thousand kilometres on it.  I live in Oz in a relatively small town of Macksville,
New South Wales, (Australia) and  was previously on a BMW K1100LT for three years
with 111,000Km on it when traded.  The Triumph reminds me of why I got into bikes
in the first place. Just love the go power (especially midrange) and the stop
power too!  It's interesting having my head out in all that clean air again.  The
BM was a great winter bike but extremely hot in summer.  I was interested to read
on the ST web site that someone was complaining about the heat from an ST...it
couldn't be as bad as the K bikes.

I bought my bike totally unexpectedly.  I was on my way to a rally and about 1,500
kilometres from home with both panniers and top box packed up and a tent fold up
chair, air bed and sleeping bag strapped to the seat.  I saw the ST parked outside
the shop and took it for a test ride.  The dealer gave me such a great trade in
price that I bought it there and then....with another fella's credit card!   I
didn't have the access card for my account so he offered his Visa!  The guys I was
riding with carried most of my stuff for me and I rode to the rally on my new
bike.  I haven't ridden it in anger yet and want to do a track day on it soon.

So I'll look forward to what this list might have to offer.  I was on the BMW
equivalent and have seen all the spark plug, tyre and 'gun in your tankbag'
threads..;-)  I will, no doubt, need to pick your brains as new questions pop
up...
