My non-CA Y2K bike doesn't seem to dump much heat from there. In the BBC
(Before Broken Collarbone) days I recall the heat primarily coming up
from the cutouts in the tailpiece and baking the bottoms of my thighs.

I've heard of some problems with those heat wraps trapping moisture and
causing rust, but I don't know how certain you are to experience that
problem. (It may be just certain brands, or the way they get applied,
that cause the problem.) I guess it might be OK for a short test -- as
long as you can get the wrap and adhesive off!
