Re: Vegas trip

Patti, apart from $$ and a cell phone (just in case) I would buy a
tire repair kit before leaving.
The best is the Stop & Go http://www.stopngo.com/motorcyc.htm As for
preping the bike I would do the following: Clean and inspect the
bike you'd be suprised at what a good wash may uncover. Do a general
safety check. Oil OK?? Tires OK? Clean, adjust and lube the chain (
also if this is a long road trip I'd get a small can of chain lube)
Read your owners manual so you know how to change bulbs, suspension
settings, etc. Review tool kit. Make sure your papers are in order.
Registration, inspection, insurance card, drivers license... all in
order?? If you get stopped for speeding or whatever that's NOT the
time to realize your whatever is missing or expired. A Triumph Dealer
directory is a good thing to have with the owners manual and other
papers. If you don't have one look up on the Net the different
dealers on your route and print out a list to keep with your other
papers. A First Aid kit is a good thing to have ( Aerostich/
Riderwarehouse sells a good one http://www.aerostich.com). Include
things like pain killers Tylenol etc, anti- acid (you never know if
you'll get some weird food out there) any prescription medications
you need. A small pouch with odds and ends.. wire ties, wire,
electrical tape, a good knife swiss army, tire pressure gauge. Stuff
to clean helmet visor. Aerostich makes these small rubber thingies to
put on your finger to wipe your visor in the rain they work great.
Also if you are planning any night riding check the aiming of your
headlights most ST's were delivered with the headlights way low! At
night in the middle of no where is not the time to find out you can't
see. Also do NOT do any major service to the bike right before you
leave. A week or two before OK, but not the day before. If the dealer
or you screws up something, the middle of who knows where is not the
place to find out a connector has come loose. Get any services done
prior to leaving and put a few miles on, that way any foul ups should
revel themselves before you leave.
