RE: armored shorts

I will now attempt to avoid being both coy and overly graphic. In my
accident last year, my left thigh was caught between my tank and the
offending vehicle's passenger door. Something gouged into my leg and pureed
a considerable amount of tissue below the skin (whoops, sorry, sorry). The
results were a watermelon-sized seroma, anemia caused by the localization of
a lot of blood, and nerve damage. Virtually all of which could have been
avoided or lessened considerably by wearing properly armored clothing.
Since neither my winter britches nor my three-season suit has hard armor
covering the outside of the thigh, I wear long Vee-Tops in the winter and
short Vee-Tops the rest of the time. They have hard plates backed by foam
on the outer-thigh and hip. I also wear hard armor on my shins, knees,
shoulders, elbows, and back. Hate to carry on like this, but it's hard to
resist the temptation to preach on the subject. My family needs me and I'm
trying to insure I stay around, and not as an invalid. Getting banged-up is
a seldom avoidable risk of motorcycling and insurance takes many forms.
Leather and ballistic nylon are not always the most comfortable or
inexpensive materials to wear, but if you're going to put on that outrageous
brain bucket anyway...

Crash (I may not be the man I used to be, but I can locate all the parts.)
