Track Tires

I have noticed several responses to the request of what type of tires to
use at the track. Recently I replaced the standard BT57's with BT56SS's
for a scheduled track day at VIR.

I put about 300 miles on them prior to track time. Even on the road I
noticed a difference from the 57's. I contacted Bridgestone to get their
suggestion as to the proper air pressure to run at the track.
Surprisingly, at least to me, the recommendation was to start at 30 and 32,
front/rear. Didn't go quite that low, as I set the pressure at 33/34. The
tires held extremely well. No slippage even when under throttle coming out
of peg draggin' turns.

During the afternoon we had a heavy rain storm which finally slowed to a
lite shower. Six of us went out to try the track in the wet. The tires
held well in the corners. The only slippage was straightaway tire spin
under heavy throttle.

I am sure there may be better tires out there but I am happy with the 56SS.
