About the hurting hands, this is caused by vibrations in the handlebars.
Mine were increasing when i mounted the top box.
Solution ; Increase the balanceweights at the end of the handle bars,or
replace them (for exp those of a Pan European).
Mine was solved by putting a piece of lead (size : 30 X 30 X 9 mm ) between
the brakeluid tank and its metalstrap.
No more numb hands now.
I had it also a few years ago on a BMW  K1100RS (Big vibrator)
