Another leak has developed

Today I rode the Blue Devil into work and parked it outside. Along comes
a horrific storm pouring buckets in a matter of no time. After work I go
out get ready for the ride home. I open the top box and YIKES! There's
an inch of water in the dang thing. Has anyone else had this problem?

I looked around the gasket for signs of moisture and couldn't find any.
A friend theorized that it came in at the hinges. I ruled out the upper
hinge leaf holes because of the rubber boot there. The lower hinge leaf
boot is open at the top so I removed the topbox and checked to see if I
could pour water out that way. Nope didn't do it. So now I am completely
stymied (this has nothing to do with the Little Rascals).

I have gotten water in it before when riding in heavy rain but I wrote
that off to the heavy rain. Apparently I was wrong.

Any suggestions?
