ST power socket

Anyone care to give a brief description of the usefulness of the ST power
socket for camping etc?

I'm wanting to take the 8 year old lad away and he wants to plug in his PS2.

Just kidding.


Do I need a pricey adapter thingie to run, say, a Coleman light? Will the
Trumpets battery be gone after an hour?
