Sounds pretty normal to me other than the mpg is a little lower than what I
average.

It's very accurate - the problem is the shape of the tank. The sensor is at
the rear of the tank (where it is deepest) - due to its location, it cannot
measure to the top of the tank, but instead starts about 1.5 - 2 gallons
down. So even if the sensor was changed to be variable in nature, it still
wouldn't begin to measure for about 100 miles into the tank. The further
you get down in the tank, the faster the fuel level drops (due to the shape
of the tank) - for a better visual imagine measuring liquid in a funnel.

Yes the RS has two - having a second on the ST would make me very happy. As
an aside why does the digital clock have PM on the display ? I have never
been riding, looked at the clock and said "Damn, is it three in the morning
or three in the afternoon ?" ;-)

I personally hated them. On the old Sprint I would forget about it and be
cruising along - chug, chug, chug - if you didn't get it quick enough you
were off on the side of the road to prime the system. Then if you forget to
throw it back on fill-up there goes your protection. And as a general
question, does having FI affect the ability to put a petcock on the system?
Every bike that I have been on with FI has not had a petcock (at least not
that I can remember)

Old gauge - shows basically the same thing. I treat the 1/2 mark as 1/3 a
tank left and have never had a problem with running out.
