Thanks, Greg. However it looks like I'm going to take Duner Tor's advice
and stick with my original option 1 and trailer my bike. I'm going to head
down to Oklahoma City on March 17th and then do a 6 day ride along Route 66
through Oklahoma, New Mexico and Arizona, with a slight detour up to the
Grand Canyon. If anyone is interested in going along or meeting somewhere
along the route that would be great.
