I would be seriously surprised if the bike left CalBMW with the
headlight nonfunctional.  Carolyn (the salesperson) and two friends of
mine watched me ride away... if the headlight had been nonfunctional,
I'm sure one of them would have noticed.  In fact, now that I think
about it, I'm sure it was working when I first got it home, since I
remember looking at the light against the wall of the garage when I
brought it in.

I'll let you know what the resolution is.
