First Gear Shifts (was Misc Questions)

Just to add a point of reference in regards to first gear shifts, my
wife and I each have an ST, hers with more miles on it since it was
acquired first.  On her bike, the shifting started out pretty good and
got better over the first 1000 miles.  Mine on the other hand started
out being difficult to get into neutral from first gear for almost 6000
miles.  After that, mine really became smooth, even smoother than my
wife's.
