It's been a while since I looked at the schematic, but I believe it goes up 
from the bottom. The plate on the side is where the fuel pump sits.

While it should technically be possible for the end user to replace, it is 
a warranty item and as such I would let the dealer handle it. Let them 
worry about the gas leaks etc....
