petrol types

As far as I know, leaded petrol has now been "banned" here in
the UK at service stations as of 1.1.2000.
Then there's standard and super unleaded (95 and 98 octane)

I have friends with ancient VWs and vans that had to be
converted to take unleaded.
They have started advertising miracle products on the box for
veteran bikes and other pre-unleaded vehicles.
Actually, a friend of mine with a modern Jap bike said he'd
decided to try out one of these wonder-potions and found it had
a great effect on his bike - mileage improved from something
like 130 to 180 miles per tank and he said the ride was smoother
and less noisy with no knocking (pinking). Can't remember the
name, but I'm sure there are several such products around. You
buy a bottle for about 10 pounds and there's enough for 70
litres, apparently.
don't ask me what it would do to your beloved Triumphs .... it
sounds like Viagra on two wheels to me ...
