I assume you are talking about the Battery Tender, or some other similar
device that steps down current once proper battery voltage has been
achieved. I have one and I think it one of the best accessories I've
purchased. Plug your battery in and forget about it. No worry about
over charging.
I've never heard about the problem of an exploding sealed battery.
Normal charging will always create H gas. Maybe he is talking about what
could happen if you left a charger on for a long time and the gas
pressure built up beyond what the case could stand. I've never heard of
this happening, but that doesn't mean it won't.
