Ok, here goes. First off, there flat ain't no good roads west of West VA
until you get to the Rockies, now that my personal opinions are out of the
way. AR 62 or MO 160 are alright for going east or west. I'm not a KY or TN
specialist, but you need to position yourself to enter WV somewhere around
Huntington. Take 2N along the river then connect with 33E to Weston, 19S to
15E follow that through Webster Springs to 219N to 250E. When you get to
Monterey, if you want a nice loop, go 220N to 33E to 42S to 250W back to
Monterey. DO NOT bypass the section of 250 between 220 and 42, repeat as
necessary. From McDowell, (East of Monterey on 250) 678S to 629S to 42S to
I64. Detour to Natural Bridge if required (Exit 175 off I81). If no detour,
I64 to Low Moor then 616S to 18S to Point Bark 311E to 658S to 42S to 460W
to 61S to 16S to 42S to 91S to 700S to 58E to 113S to the Parkway near
Laurel Springs. All that said, you can't go wrong using any roads there, if
you have not done the Parkway....you really should do it one time, it's for
tourin not jammin though. If you use my roads.....be prepared for new tires,
Yeeehaaaa. If you are thinking about doing something up in that area and
would like company for the last day or so let me know. Dee and I would be
happy to meet you somewhere Wednesday night and have a fun ride down
Thursday.
