Clutch rod seal

Hi all,
Something I forgot to mention is that while I've got the bodywork
off the bike I had a quick look at the clutch rod oil seal, but I can't
see anything obviously wrong. Then again, I don't know what I'm looking
for! Has anyone tinkered with this part of the bike? Is it easy to
replace the oil seal, or would I have to take the clutch cover off?
I notice that there is a loose washer on top of the seal which
doesn't appear to be doing very much, but I can't see how it could be
restrained.
Thanks,
Jim
