for Steve-local rides

 >>> Who is in the LA area? <<<

Several of us are in or close to Orange Co. and there are many in
the more Northern climes of the LA area (Angus, Marc and Gayathri
come quickly to mind.

 >>> Do you have organized, non-daredevil rides? <<<

Semi-organized, mostly over Ortega and out into San Diego,
Riverside and San Bernadino counties. Mostly one-dayers' but a few
longer rides each year. Fast riding is a subjective term and is not
discouraged per se; riding at a speed at which one is not relaxed and
comfortable is STRONGLY discouraged and daredevil riders (those who
seem to ride over their head) are ostracized by the rest and not
invited back. Waiting for other riders never spoiled anyone's day;
having to make a trip to the emergency room ALWAYS does.

Although we sometimes have route maps, more often it is a case of
each rider being responsible for making sure the following rider sees
where the turns are made. This also spreads out the group and reduces
'catch-up' riding. It's all very informal, but fun.

Meeting place is usually in San Juan Capistrano (west end of
Ortega) at 8 or 9am, depending on who's coming from where. Rides are
almost entirely back country roads in the hills and average around
300 miles; we usually plan to be back by dark but it doesn't always
work out that way.

Nothing is planned right now because of the uncertain weather.
