It may be only for 3 seconds, but boy what a 3 seconds it is!!! <very big

And yes, we were able to use the same chain (no links needed to be removed).
This will decrease the amount of adjustment left, necessitating chain
replacement a bit earlier, but what the heck, with tyre replacement
costs/intervals etc. I don't really mind the extra expense for a
sport/passion that I adore. If cost is an issue/value then you probably
wouldn't want to perform this mod. BTW, the sprocket cost me approx. $95
AUD.
And it does make for more "available" (but more controllable) mono's...
