Pete,

A nanometre is one billionth of a metre and is typically used in the
measurement of light waves.  When it comes to torque,  Nm stands for
'Newton-metres',  the Metric unit of measurement for torque.

1 Newton-metre (Nm)  =  0.738 Pounds-force feet (lb ft).

Therefore,  55 Nm  =  40.59 lb ft of torque.

Converting in the other direction,   1 lb ft  =  1.356 Nm.
