Rear shock leaking

Did the routine weekly grease and tighten on the bike today and noticed that
the rear shock has started to leak oil.

Am I correct in thinking that 15,000 miles is a little premature for this to
have happened?
I expected the performance of the shock to degrade with the miles piling on
but not for it to start leaking.

I'll will be contacting my dealer tomorrow anyway.
