Re: for Scott - son on pillion

Argggg,

I've got to say something here. It seems like some people are
coming up with some interesting ways to keep their younger children
on their bikes, and I must question what you are doing. I do not
want to start a flame war, but I would ask people to think about
the consequences of their actions.

Personally I for one will not put my child on my bike and ride it
on the street until they are old enough to be able to make a conscious
decision based on the risks. If something where to happen on that
bike, such as a car pulls out and you child is on the bike, or
worse attached to you, severe injuries to you child could be the
result.

I realize there are risks to everything that we do in life, we,
the "adults" have to be able to make well thought out decisions.

Around here (N. Dallas) I have seen a few gentlemen taking their
small children for rides, once or twice with the child sitting in
their lap with cheap helmets on. The only thoughts that I have are
that even in a low speed accident the child will get crushed by
the father, or get thrown through the air with only a poor fitting
cheap helmet to protect his/her head/neck. And we all know a good
fitting helmet will tend to protect the neck, where as a poorly
fitting helmet will definitely increase the odds of neck damage.

This is probably a rant, for that I apologize, and some people may
point out that I do not have children currently, but that does not
lessen my respect for life, especial when those lives depend on us
"adults" to make well informed, well thought out decisions.
