RE: Gas Milage

Burt & Big Red & Fellow STers,

I had been getting between 38 and 48 mpg. Lance LaCerte (also STer from
Denver) and myself did a ride last Sunday. We rode hard and were going
85-95 a lot of the the time. Freeway and Twisties. On my way home I
stopped to fill the tank. The odometer read 248 and it only took about 4.2
gallons. I swear on my ST gas tank! That works out to about 59 mpg! My
first thought is that my odometer is off. We had gone to see the races at
Pikes Peak and my neighbor was there racing and he confirmed that one way
was 130 miles to our house so it should be pretty close since we went the
long way. Oh, and I was at 900 mi, 300 past my first service
recommendation. Must be the thin air!

Hi there fellow STERS

I have just noticed that my 99 ST is getting an honest 50 MPG. This
happened suddenly. I changed my oil at 4500 miles, from a partial
synthetic
(Motol) to a full synthetic (Motul300V)
The next tank was about 43mpg, which is what I had been getting.(40/43)
 The
next tank was 49.25. The next tank was 48 and some change, and for me to
get 50-I would have had to drive 6 more miles-which I think Big Red would
have done with no additional gas. Is everyone else
getting 50mpg? Is the milage increase due to the synthetic oil? Or is the
ST just getting broke in. I had ridden it on a 150 Mile trip, speeds of
75/85
with a head /cross wind. Gassed up at the halfway point, and noticed the
49mpg. The next tank was the 48mpg tank.

Burt &
Big Red
