HORROR story for Halloween (belated).

Robert

sit down, this is a long tale ....
but here's the short version
Universal tyres in Staines will supply you with the tyres - they have the
Pirellis in stock, as also the Bridgestones and others, but no Avons.
However, please do NOT use them to fit the tyres.
Here's why,
- - they're nice people, friendly, accommodating, funny etc.
- - but they took nearly 2 1/2 hours to get my back wheel off and replace the
tyre
- - they couldn't even get the front tyre off (huge allen key, remember?)
because they had such a small selection of tools

I ended up taking the front tyre and going down to Jacko's with it and
having it fitted there, at extra cost
also had the back wheel checked, and they said the torque was wrong, so that
hadn't been done properly either.

Imagine the scene - in the time it took to get the back wheel done, about 6
cars and vans got their tyres done on the other side of the tyre bay. I
spent the best part of a day getting the two tyres replaced.

Moral: get the dealer to do it, even if it means ordering the tyres
elsewhere - put one on the back and one over your shoulders, but get them to
a decent mechanic's.

Universal in Tottenham in N. London specialize in bikes so they're probably
ten times better and quicker, but the ones that do cars adn bikes are just
NOT up to the job.

Tim
