Re: 17 tooth sprocket



As I've mentioned a few times, a good 17-tooth sprocket works fine.

I went to one because I live in the mountains and found the bike lugging
on steep, sandy hairpin turns.

17 front/43 rear is a standard setup, not extreme, and not too hard on the
chain.

You do have to take a link out of the RS chain.

If you do a lot of highway riding you'll be better off with the stock 19/43.

There's a nice archive search where you can easily look up all this stuff.

I do enjoy the wonderful "eagerness" of the RS since I went to a smaller
front sprocket.  It feels kinda like a dog pulling on the leash.
