Re: st-digest V2000 #607

Bolt on a Daytona clutch lever and the stiff shifting should be a thing of
the past. Pay attention to the cable free play. This must be adjusted to
the correct specs as per Triumphs recomendations.

 Subject: shifting -- gets better?

when i first got the RS, shifting from first to second was well nigh
impossible. since a different bike (an ST) that i'd test-ridden at
only 15 miles had a similar problem, i wasn't worried, and sure
enough, by now, at just over 1000 miles, the RS is almost tolerable.
but when it's dead cold, that first shift still has to be excuted
_just_ right, with the shifter loaded, and the shift done just at the
initial easing of the throttle. otherwise it's a no-go, and it

does this ever change? i'm getting better at remember to be extra
careful on the first couple of 1st to 2nd shifts of a ride, and since
i try and use the pre-loading method in general, it's not _too_ bad,
but i sure wish it would loosen up.

the other time it's hard to shift is at a full stop -- getting from
first to neutral or second is quite hard. it takes so much pressure
that i invariable end up in 2nd, and have to go back down to neutral.
 is this also common?
